It’s not Charles and David Koch. Neither is it Sheldon Adelson nor the “Billionaire Boyz” of the Texas Mafia. Forget Rupert and little Grover.
The opponents of America’s working class are laying the groundwork for a coup. Republicans want to provoke a 21st century clash on behalf of the “haves and the have mores.” The old guard GOP has recruited two men with reps as guerrilla fighters. The Kook hails from the state where the first Civil War began. The Spook is known (by those who fear him) as a “hit man.” He’s the guy who does the wet work, so to speak.
The Kook will be paid $1 million a year –a huge salary bump for a guy whose CV equals that of a Kardashian. His main duties will be ginning up Southern hate and bamboozling MSM’s pinhead pundits.
The Spook most likely makes three times as much as the Kook. The enforcer-in chief has been described by anonymous sources as a legal zealot and bully. The Spook’s bona fides—an under-the-radar attorney with a penchant for pretzel-twisting the US Constitution and the powers of the presidency, among other things. In the past, this operative won “attaboys” from his boss, Dick Cheney. The Spook (a Cheney understudy) gave the Bush administration legal cover to ignore the Geneva Conventions, justify torture, sanction indefinite detention, authorize spying inside the US and expand presidential /executive powers without legislative consent.
The Kook, Jim DeMint, is supposed to baffle the chattering classes with BS. The Spook, David Addington, is supposed to scare the bejesus out of everybody to advance the hardcore conservative agenda of the Heritage Foundation. Ironically, twice voters have rejected Republican plans. Right-wing fury is palpable. Neocons continue setting booby traps, political landmines along the road to disunion.
